2014 Chinese New Year (31 Jan - 01 Feb 2014)

This is a belated post about our Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration. But still i want to keep it as a record, as my journal.

Last year our CNY was full of invitation to friends' house, eat, had steamboat together. But this year chinese new year was a very quiet year for our family. A lot of our friends when back to their hometown to celebrate CNY. So we have to plan our own activities. Thank God we still have our sister's family who just stay nearby. She invited us to go to Garden by the Bay as they have opened a new Children Garden. She sent us some photos and it looked really fun there.  (How amazing it was. When there was nobody, God indeed sent someone to accompany us. :))

We spent the whole day there. The kids were just love it there. They had so much fun. They can play sand, water, there is a playground too.

Look at this big slide. How i wish i could play too. D enjoy himself so much but K was a little bit affraid of this big slide.

Spider web with those rock climbing rocks.

Water FUN!! This is where we spent most of our time. The kids just didn't want to stop. But at that time, the weather was really good too. Sunny, not too hot and windy..mmmm made want to fall asleep.

This is how the kids learn their balancing.

You can visit Garden by the Bay next time if you come to Singapore, especially those with toddlers and have so much fun like we did. :)

I-spy Baby Quilt.

When i received a news that my sister in law was pregnant. I said "YES! I can have an excuse to make another quilt. "

I decided to make I-Spy quilt for her baby. I think it will be a very fun quilt for a baby or toddler. It is quite simple to make.  I got this idea from Amy Smart from Diary of a Quilter. She is really talented quilter. I love all her works, all is fantastic.

This is the quilt backing

I'm planning to write some message on the plain white fabric.. Not sure if it will turn out nice.

I hope they like this quilt. :))

Coming up with more new projects.

My lovely birthday presents.

January was my birthday month so this post is a belated post about my birthday.

I have received 3 presents that i love the most. One is Amy Butler's book from my cousins. Actually my cousin didn't give it as my birthday present but since she gave it near my bday so i just took it as it is :))

I love it so much. Inside there are a lot of bags patterns and tutorial. Who doesn't love Amy Butler right? Her unique style in her fabrics, etc. I can't wait to make those bags :)

Second present will be from my best friend. It is a spotlight voucher. They know me the best. They know that i love sewing, fabrics, etc.. So they bought me a voucher so i could go for fabric shopping. Yippeeee. Thanks Gals, you are the best.

Last but not least is a present from my dear hubby. He gave me an iPad Air (Yipee!!!!). He knows that i used ipad most of the times. I use it to update my blog, to work, to find my quilt pattern, etc.

Thanks Hubby. I never imagined that i would get an iPad Air as a present. I am so happy. Finally i get mine and don't have to share it with the kids.

Not only that, he also looked around for an the cover for me. He has shortlisted some for me to see before he bought it. So on my birthday besides having lunch at Sakae Sushi (which is our favorite resto), we went to Plaza Singapura to hunt for my ipad cover. Finally i found what i really love, hot pink cover that is embossed with Japanese culture.

Here is what the inside cover looks like.

For Hubby and me, we look to go to Japan. They have all those cute stuff, toys (yea, we love and collect toys too :)), and the quality are good. So we hope one day we can tour around Japan again.

First Baby Quilt in 2014

I have a news that my niece is expecting a baby boy due in April 2014. As soon as i heard the new, i already planned to make a baby quilt for her. I am so addicted to quilting now. Choosing the fabrics, colors, arranging the blocks together so that they look nice.. It just a fun thing to do (at least for me). It is like you are playing a puzzle.

For this baby boy, i decided to do the below quilt. Since i am a beginner in quilting so the easiet one will be charm pack quilt.

Taaa daaa.. Here is the front quilt.

And here is the back

I still small problem when i did this quilt. I just don't know why my blocks are slanted to the left??? I need to practice more i guess.

Hopefully she likes it :)

Btw, this year i plan to update my blog more often. Maybe make it like a journal :)

So see you soon then.
